A century ago, communities and neighbors played a central role in daily life, fostering stronger social bonds and mutual support. Life was structured in a way that made reliance on neighbors and community an essential part of survival and social interaction. Over time, however, society has shifted toward a more transaction-based market economy, driven by technological advancements, urbanization, and individualism.
We need a holistic system supporting children, families, and caregivers. We have recommendations for policymakers and funders to better support community-led initiatives focused on equity and improved outcomes for young children and their families.
Placemaking to Renovate the Community
